William “Billy” Ward, 64, of Duncan, OK passed away peacefully Sunday Feb. 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday Feb. 16, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church West with Rev. Reggie Creekmore and Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Billy was born July 9, 1953 in Ardmore, OK to Mary and Kyle Ward. He lived most of his life in Duncan. Billy married his high school sweetheart Deborah Denise Fisher on July 7, 1972. Together they had one daughter, Joy Dawn Ward born Nov. 28, 1975. Debbie and Joy died suddenly on Nov. 28, 1995. Billy later found love again and married Brenda June Domstead Wagner on Aug. 1, 1997. They shared 19 years together until her passing Nov. 12, 2016.
Billy graduated from Cameron University, Lawton, OK. At the age of 18, he surrendered his life and answered God’s call to begin a lifelong journey of sharing God’s word, ministering to many through his 45 years in ministry. Billy pastored many churches thru Mullins, Comanche Cotton and Enon Associations in Oklahoma. Billy’s proudest accomplishment in ministry was founding City Heights Baptist Church of Duncan in 1980. Along with sharing God’s word he also ran the Tom’s Toasted Peanut Distributorship in this area for many years. Another proud accomplishment was becoming a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch, Edward Jones and finally Waddell and Reed before his retirement.
Billy is survived by his sister, Patty Messersmith and husband Guy of Duncan, a brother, Andy Ward and wife Nancy of Monticello, GA; a nephew, Billy Joe Thompson of Duncan; a step-son, Rob Wagner and wife Keri of Lufkin, TX; a brother-in-law, Bill Domstead of Marlow, OK; sisters-in-law, Cheri Willis of Oklahoma City, OK and Sharon Burton and Bonnie Haney both of Duncan.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Muchmore, Lee Norton, DeWayne Norton, Jimmy Grantham, Larry McElroy and Rob Wagner. His Best Friends, Russell Presgrove and Glen Gill will serve as Honorary Bearers.
