William Emmitt Davis
January 13, 1942 ~ October 18, 2018 (age 76)
William "Bill" Emmitt Davis, age 76, passed away Thursday morning October 18, 2018 in his sleep at Duncan Regional Hospital. He was given to us on a Tuesday morning January 13, 1942 in Keokuk, Iowa. Bill was a Comanche High School graduate class of 1960. He attended Cameron University transferring to East Central University of Edmond studying Architecture. He served in the ARMY-USAR-ORD as a 2ndLT from 1965-1971. He married Edith Kephart “His One & Only” true love September 1, 1965. They moved to the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas in 1971 working for his dad the family business, Southland Care Company. He later started his own business, Davis Land Leveling, until retiring in 2004 and moving to Duncan in 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera Althea (Taylor) and Floyd Henry Davis of Edinburg, Texas; and his only sister, Beverly Ellen Harrell (Hicker) of Luther, Oklahoma. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Edith Fay (Kephart) Davis; and two daughters, Denisa Davis of Austin, Texas and Chandra Gonzalez, who is married to his favorite son-in-law Reyes Gonzalez Jr. of Duncan, Oklahoma. He was known as Papa Bill to the “World’s Greatest Grandkids” Seth, Taylor, and Cassie Gonzalez, all of Duncan. Bill was laid to rest at 10:00am Friday, October 19, 2018, surrounded by family at Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers were family members: Reyes Gonzalez Jr, Seth Gonzalez, Billie Pittman, Garrett Haviland, Justin Kephart, and Eddie Kephart Sr. Services were under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
