William Burl Copeland, 67, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away December 23, 2017 at Duncan Regional Hospital with family at his side.
Services will be 10:00 A.M Friday December 29, 2017 at the Don Grantham Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike King officiating, assisted by Bro. Jerry McArthur. Interment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Services are under the Direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
The family will visit with friends Thursday December 28 from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Burl was born September 16, 1950 in Duncan to Andrew and Josephine Copeland. Burl served in the U.S. Navy and worked for many years at Halliburton, he was a lifelong member of Moose Lodge 2202 and faithfully attended First Freewill Baptist Church of Duncan. Burl spent many years coaching his children’s sports teams and was an avid High School sports fan, visiting many local school sports events with his brother Bobby. Most of all Burl dedicated his time to his seven grandchildren, of whom he adored with all his heart.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Copeland of the home, a son; Billy Copeland and wife Kimberly of Duncan; and daughters Angela Copeland of Duncan and Lisa Smith and husband Rob of Monett, Missouri. Seven grandchildren; Ben Copeland, Cody and Amanda Copeland, Kelli Copeland, Kaitlin Caldwell, Johnathan Caldwell and Madison Caldwell all of Duncan and Alex Smith of Monett, Missouri, a great-granddaughter; Kaylea Plumley, a sister; Jean Pitcock of Duncan, brothers Bobby Copeland of Duncan, Tommy Copeland of Boley and Harley Copeland of Haltom City, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Burl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Leroy, George, Freeman, Virgil and sisters; Retha, Billye and Delorise, an infant son; Andy Copeland, and great-grandson; Greyson Cole Caldwell.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oklahoma City in Burl’s honor in memoriam of Greyson Cole Caldwell.
