Virginia Ruth Bubel

Virginia Ruth Bubel, 86, of Comanche, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in Duncan on November 3, 2019, after spending the day with family. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Cremation and memorial arrangements are in the care of Don Grantham Funeral Home. A register book will be available to sign at the funeral home.
Virginia Ruth Bubel was born on July 5, 1933 in Lawton, Oklahoma to William and Elsie (Romines) Whitfield. Her mother died a few weeks after Virginia’s birth, and she was raised by her Aunt “Doe Doe” and her dad William. Virginia grew up in Lawton and attended Lawton Public Schools. In 1951 she married Robert Floyd “Bob” White, and to this union three children were born. Virginia worked as a grocery clerk at Woodward’s Grocery for 18 years while raising her kids as a single parent. She married the love of her life Robert Paul Bubel on May 24, 1978 in Lawton, Oklahoma. After she and Bob married, she was a proud and loving rancher’s wife, working side by side with Bob on their cow-calf operation in North Dakota. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1985 and have lived at Comanche for the past thirty years. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Virginia delighted in sharing special times with her children and extended family. She enjoyed photography, especially when watching wildlife and picnicking at the Wichita Mountains with her family. Virginia was a member of Fair Baptist Church.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert Bubel of the home; her daughters and their spouses: Laura Zella Bills and her husband Timothy of Chattanooga, Oklahoma, and Kathy Cloud and her husband Chris of Marlow, Oklahoma; her grandchildren and their spouses: Christi Woods and her husband Todd of Perry, Oklahoma, Lauren Payne and her husband Cody of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Christian Bills and his wife Ashley of Chattanooga, Oklahoma, Dustin White and James White of Chester, Arkansas, Oliver Downs of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; her great grandchildren, Peyton Haley, Parker Haley, Aiden Woods, Kayla Woods, Kiersten Woods, Tate Edgar, Jayelee Bills, Kale Bills, Caleb Downs, Carter Downs, Camden Downs, and Henry Thomas White, along with several special nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her son Rick White; her parents, William and Elsie Whitfield; her Aunt Doe Doe, and her sister, Evelyn Hickox.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Fair Church Building Fund or to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be left for the family at
