Velma Lee McFatridge, 98, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away on September 8, 2019, in Marlow, Oklahoma. A grave side memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Couch officiating. Cremation arrangements were provided by Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan, Oklahoma. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Velma Lee McFatridge was born on August 7, 1921, in Shamrock, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles Alexander and Carrie Rebecca Caruthers Hutcheson. She was raised in Oklahoma City and attended Emerson Grade School and Roosevelt Jr. High School. She graduated from Central High School in May of 1939, in Oklahoma City. Velma Lee worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a long distance operator for 13 years; and, sold Avon for 20 years. She married J.R. (Joe Raymond) McFatridge on June 8, 1946, in Oklahoma City. Raymond passed away on August 24, 2009. They were married for 63 years. Velma Lee was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and dearly loved her church. She quit driving several years ago and missed going to her church. Velma Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Raymond, and her parents. She is survived by her two daughters, Marsha Bean and her husband Jim, of Yukon, Oklahoma; and, Janice Farmer and her husband Guy, of Marlow, Oklahoma, as well as seven grandchildren, Glen Bean of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Taron Bean and wife Sarah of Piedmont, Oklahoma; Tesha Douglas-Gordon and husband Josh of Pensacola, Florida; Michelle Oden and husband Ryan of Davis, Oklahoma; Nathan Farmer and wife Karmen and Penny Scott and husband Jeff of Marlow, Oklahoma; and, Brent Farmer and wife Staci of Fayetteville, Arkansas; seventeen great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.
