Percy Alonzo "Bud" White Sr

Percy Alonzo "Bud" White Sr, 96, of Duncan Oklahoma Departed this life on Thursday September 19, 2019 at the Lawton/Ft. Sill Veterans Center.
There will be a private family service at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home
Bud was born June 24, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to James Percy and Josephine Garcia White. He married the love of his life Margaret M. Betschart of Manteca, California on October 30, 1949 in Carson City, Nevada. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2013.
Bud is a World War II Veteran who served with Fox Company, 16th Infantry Regiment of the First Infantry Division, also known as “The Big Red One”.
From the stories he told of his service to this Nation, he was 1 of 14 members of FOX Company to make it through the Normandy Landing on Omaha Beach without a scratch, and 1 of 7 of the original 260 members of Fox Company to make it through the Ardennes Forest, also known as the Battle of the Bulge. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before being wounded in action for the second time. He received the Bronze Star and 2 Purple Hearts for his actions during WWII.
He also received the Distinguished Unit Badge, French Fourragere, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal
From 1952-1963 he worked as a Trucking Supervisor for White’s Trucking in Manteca, California and later as a Warehouse Supervisor for 25 years at Sharpe Army Depot in Lathrop, California.
Upon retirement, he moved to Twain Harte, California before relocating to Duncan, Oklahoma in 1998 to be closer to his family.
Bud is survived by three children: Lonnie White and wife Sheila of Duncan, Oklahoma, Mark White of Manteca, California, and Lynette White of Sonora, California; Five Grandchildren: Julie Haro and husband Robert of Houston, Texas, Brian White and wife Teresa of Morgantown, West Virginia, Kimberly Vreeland and husband Paul of Denver, Colorado, Wendi Kinsey and husband Jason of Vero Beach, Florida and Ashley White of Tracy, California; Six great grandchildren: Robert Haro, Taylor White, Christian Haro, Kaitlyn White, Alexandra Haro, and Oakley White.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: John and Walter and five sisters: Betty, Rose, Anita, Priscilla, and Lita.
He will forever live in our memories and hearts. He may be gone from our lives, but he will never be forgotten.
