Lavinda Lucille Avey, 86, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Duncan Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM at Fair Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 29 with Pastor David Spangler officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Duncan under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lavinda Lucille Avey was born on August 15, 1933 in Empire, Oklahoma to Loyd William Jennings and Zelma (Nelson) Jennings. Lavinda graduated from Empire High School in 1952. She married Glenn Avey on May 24, 1968 in Duncan, Oklahoma. She worked as a supervisor for several businesses and for Holiday Inn before retiring in 2000. She was a member of Fair Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandkids and great grandkids, she loved cooking, playing skipbo, sewing and quilting. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty six years, Glenn Avey, her brothers, Bobby and Gene Jennings, her grandson, Shelby Biffle and her parents Loyd and Zelma Jennings. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Judy Chisum and her husband Billy of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Mike Johnson and his wife Marla of Comanche, Oklahoma; her brother, Roy Jennings and Marlina of Duncan, Oklahoma; her sister and her husband, Barbara Stiles and Cletus of Wichita Falls, Texas; eight grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild on the way.
Pallbearers are Hunter Biffle, Dekota Walkingstick, Dylan Ensminger, Derek Ensminger, Hunter Walkingstick, Kanyn Allen and Kyler Allen. Honorary Pallbearers, Carl Johns, Jason Cesar, Dale Jennings, Billy Chisum, Michael Shawn Elledge, Jeremiah Johnson, Lijah Chisum, Jessie Chisum, Kellan Biffle, Kiowa Elledge, Donnie Walkingstick, Brison Mascaro, Kevin Allen.
