Rev Jody Clark Hilliard

July 25, 1944 ~ September 30, 2018 (age 74)

Reverend Jody Clark Hilliard, 74 of Duncan, OK, departed this life to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, September 30, 2018.
He was born on July, 25 1944 to Payton and Mervelle Hilliard of Chickasha, Oklahoma. In 1953 the family moved to Lawton and Jody graduated from Lawton High School in 1962. Jody continued his studies through higher education at Cameron University, where he was awarded a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1966 and post graduate studies at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he was a recipient of a Master of Arts Degree in Education in 1967.
While attending SWOSU, Jody met and fell in love with Shirley Ann Lee of Custer City, OK. They were married on August 12, 1967. After completing his education, Jody began a teaching career. He taught and served as principal at Elgin High School and Ninnekah High School. As he taught, Jody accepted a calling to church ministry, where he would utilize his teaching and administrative skills. He was ordained to the ministry in 1980 and served as an associate pastor on the staff of Central Baptist Church of Lawton for a few years and First Baptist Church of Duncan, Oklahoma in years to follow until retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Hilliard, son Reverend Brint Hilliard and his wife Sharilyn of St. Charles, Missouri, along with their children (Joshua, Bailey and Peyton), son Reverend Dr. Cary Hilliard and his wife Kelli Hilliard of Longview, Texas along with their children (Auburn, Carson and Eden). Additional survivors include an aunt, Wanda Halbert of OKC and brother in laws Lyle Lee and Eddie Lee, both of Custer City, and their respective families. He also has many nieces and nephews.
A service in Celebration of Jody’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 5, 2018 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Duncan. Dr. Cary Hilliard and Dr. Bryan Pain will officiate the service and be assisted by musical presentations from Reverend Ron Fannin and Reverend David Leu. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM at the Masonic Cemetery in Custer City, OK. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.
Family will visit with friends on Thursday, Oct. 4th from 5:00-6:30 PM at the funeral home.
