Jack Roberts, 90, of Duncan, OK went to be with his Savior Saturday March 24, 2018 at the Ft. Sill Veteran's Center in Lawton, OK. Services will be 11:30am Thursday March 29 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1824 W. Jones Ave, Duncan, with Rev. Bob Davis and Rev. Alan Wax officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00pm the Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK with the Stephens County Honor Guard providing honors. Services are under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan. His family will visit with friends at the funeral home Wednesday March 28 from 5:00-7:00pm. Jack was born on November 16, 1925 to William and Auroa Roberts in Zwolle, LA. He joined the United States Navy in February 1943 serving on the USS Mount Vernon. He married the love of his life Dura Elaine Walters on January 28, 1950 in Vinton, LA. He was saved at Vinton in 1954 at the Church of the Nazarene. Jack was a charter member of the Bible Missionary Church and moved his family to Duncan in 1968 so that his children could attend Duncan Christian School. He lived in his home a block from the church and school until, due to health issues, he moved to the Fort Sill Veteran Center, in Lawton, OK. He loved reading about history and religion and put together quite the library over the years. He enjoyed playing his guitar, mandolin and banjo. Jack is survived by his wife Dura Elaine Roberts; seven children, Brenda Roberts, Lydia Brewster and husband Chris, Terry Roberts, Phebe Kirk and husband Paul, Debbie Kirk and husband Mark, Teresa Roberts and Samuel Roberts and wife Tamra; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brenda Louise Roberts; one granddaughter, Charisma Word; and one great grandson, Kinzler Mattingly.
