Helen Louise Morris

April 18, 1934 ~ April 7, 2018 (age 83)
Helen Louise Morris, 83, of Duncan, Oklahoma, affectionately known as "NANA", entered Heaven's Gates Saturday April 7, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family as she began her journey home.
A celebration of Helen's life will be 2:00pm Thursday April 12, 2018 at the All Saints Episcopal Church with the Rev. Susan Lindley officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday April 11th from 5:00-7:00pm at the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Helen was born on April 18, 1934 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Mary Louise and Matthew Wham. She married the love of her life, John Morris on Sept. 7, 1952 at the First Christian Church in Duncan. Her love for John was evident in how she cared for and nurtured him throughout their 65 years of marriage. Helen graduated from Duncan High School in 1952 and attended The University of Oklahoma.
She was employed as a secretary/receptionist for many years but considered her role as a wife, mother and homemaker her most important position.
Helen enjoyed many hobbies including china painting, sewing, square dancing and bird watching and she was a charter member of the Ornithological Society/Audobon Club. She also enjoyed family vacations, flowers, gardening and butterflies. One of her greatest joys was taking her friend and companion Beau, an English Springer Spaniel, to dog shows where he won several ribbons. Helen loved cooking and baking, especially for her family and friends. She served as a sponsor for the Jolly Jills Social Club, volunteered with the Duncan Regional Hospital Auxiliary and kept up-to-date with the Republican Party.
She was a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church.
Helen's gift of giving was often shared when she came upon a need. With her caring and compassionate spirit she brought instant joy to so many...and became "Nana" to everyone she met. Helen LOVED her family so much, and was an amazing wife, mother, Nana and friend.
Survivors include her adoring husband, John Morris, of the home; three daughters, Nakita Rizzo of Norman, Oklahoma, Tanna Besherse and husband Bobby and Suzanne Presgrove and husband Cody, all of Duncan; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She also leaves behind her loving Westie Terrier, Rosie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Beverly Harris; and a great-grandson, Grant Choate.
