Glenn Edwin Gill, loving husband of Nelda Askins-Gill, stepped into Glory as he passed from this life of natural causes on April 11, 2020 at the age of 87.
There will be public viewing and Visitation on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 from 1:00PM to 8:00PM at Don Grantham Funeral Home
Grave side services will be held Wednesday, April 15,2020 at 2:00PM at the Duncan Cemetery with Brother Randy Southerland officiating . Services will be under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Glenn was born in Duncan on September 16,1932 to Mina Olivia (Alford) and Claud Richard Gill. He lived in Duncan all of his life and graduated from Duncan High School with the class of 1950. Glenn served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an electrician by trade beginning his career as a teen working for his dad, and later as co-owner of Gill Electric, Inc. until his retirement.
Glenn was an avid weightlifter and a competitive powerlifter, setting and breaking several state and national records. In 1988 he set a world record in the bench press as he hoisted 424 lbs in the 55-59 age division, 165 lb weight class. Glenn was 56 years old at the time and his record stood for many years. Glenn mentored many along the way.
Glenn was a member of New Hope Baptist Church West. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Kenneth Wayne Gill, Retha L. Gill, Wilma P. Gill
Glenn is survived by his wife of the home Nelda, his one daughter LaRetha Spanky Davis and husband Bob, one granddaughter Andi Scifres and husband Scotty, one grandson Brendon Davis ad wife Kim Hee all of Marlow, five great grandchildren, Brenlee and Braxton Scifres, Eliannah, Jin Hee and Jae Hee Davis all of whom he loved dearly.
