Garvin Wayne Clower was born in Alvord, TX to Brown and Jewel Clower on May 28, 1937 and passed to his heavenly home on Feb. 25, 2019 at Duncan, OK.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Thursday Feb. 28 at the Velma Baptist Church. Interment will follow at New Velma Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
The family will visit with friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 7pm.
Garvin graduated from Alvord High School in 1955. He married Mildred Jones on June 18, 1955 at Union Hill Baptist Church at Alvord, TX. They have lived in Skellytown, TX, Duncan, OK and Velma, OK. He worked for Skelly Oil Company, Getty Oil Company and Texaco and retired after 43 years.
He enjoyed his cattle, farm and gardening after retirement. He was active in his church, Velma Baptist, served on the board of Stephens Co. Rural Water Dist #1 and was a booster of the Velma Cross Country Teams. He also volunteered at the Velma Food Bank.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred Clower of the home, son, John and wife Retha of Velma, a daughter, Gail and her husband, Troy Hobbs of Duncan, his grandson Ty and Rhiannon Hobbs of Indiana, PA and great-grandson Lincoln Wayne Hobbs of Indiana, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 granddaughters, J'Ann Clower and Felecia Jones, 4 brothers, John Clower, Vernon Clower, William Clower and Tommy Clower.
