FREDERICK PAUL DUERR, 79, of Duncan, Oklahoma
It is with great sadness but divine hope that we announce the passing of Frederick Paul “Peter” Duerr. Fred was born February 17, 1941 to Carl August and Irene Elizabeth Wyant Duerr in Ashley, Ohio. He grew up with his sister, Carolyn and brother, Andy. He spent 22 years serving in the United States Army which included several tours of duty in Vietnam and Korea. During the war he was awarded the Purple Heart for injury in combat. Instead of retiring after the military he went on to become a police officer with the city of Casa Grande for 28 years. He loved his job, his yard work and his automobiles. He was a jokester and the ultimate nick-name giver. He was a man of few words, quiet and headstrong. He was a believer in God the Father, Christ, His Son and the Holy Spirit. He will be sorely missed by many people as well as Daisy, the dog. See you on the other side, Dad! He is survived by his steadfast and loving wife of 60 years, Rebecca (Roof) Duerr, daughters Julie (Richy), Tonya (Nils) and son Shawn (Renee) as well as his brother, Andy. Also surviving are a passel of loving and devoted grandchildren, Beth, Stephen, Timothy, Rashel, Erika, Rebecca, Emily, Jeremy, Jamie & Caleb. Also surviving him are 20 great-granchildren. His parents, Carl & Irene, sister Carolyn & grandson Mark predeceased him. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on April 24 at 10:00 am at Grantham Funeral Home limited attendance. Internment will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery at 1:00 PM limited attendance. Condolences may be left for the family at www.granthamfuneralhomes.com
