Frank Ingold Vaughn

Frank Ingold Vaughn, 88, a longtime Duncan, OK resident died Friday, April 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5:00 – 7:00pm, Tuesday May 1st, at Don Grantham Funeral Home, 1502 US Hwy 81 in Duncan. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at First Christian Church, 912 W Walnut, Duncan. Interment to follow at 4:00pm at Bower Cemetery, Bower, Oklahoma. He was born October 28th, 1929 in McAlester, OK to James and Ora (Ingold) Vaughn. Frank graduated from McAlester High School with the class of 1947 and joined the Army in July, 1948. In the Korean Conflict, he served with the 2nd Infantry Division, 9th Regiment infantry tank company. After returning from Korea, Frank acquired his pilot’s license and loved flying his Aeronca 7AC “Champ.” On December 4th, 1953, Frank married Honor Howell in McAlester, Oklahoma on December 4, 1953. Frank completed IBM school which led to his participation in the first computerized census in 1960. Frank and Honor made their home in Duncan in 1961. Frank went to work at Fort Sill as a systems analyst, designing the maintenance and pay systems early in his career and moving to weapons systems later in his career. Frank was very active in the First Christian Church of Duncan and in the community supporting Toy Shop and other ventures with his wife Honor. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and entertaining his children and grandchildren with colorful stories of his life. Frank dedicated his most recent years to caring for his wife as she travels along the Alzheimer’s journey. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dewayne Frank Vaughn; his sisters, Mattie Smith, Emma Ray Thomas, Leora Marlar, Clara LaFlore; his brother, Jay Vaughn; and his nephew, Kenneth Thomas. He is survived by Honor, his loving wife of 63 years; his children, who were his proudest achievements, Denise Clark(AJ) of Duncan, Linda Susan Haley (Joe) of Oklahoma City, Teresa Sprague (Stephen) of Bedford, TX, Alicia Vaughn (Staci) of Oklahoma City and Regina Vaughn of the Woodlands, TX; Daughter-in-law, Lori Vaughn; grandchildren, Robert Vaughn Dean, Kristen Vaughn, Mason Vaughn (Nicole), Brian Clark, Joe Haley, Matthew Sprague; great grandson, Vaughn Dean-Woods; niece, Doris Nabors (Jon); great nephews, Smitty Nabors (Randi), Spencer Roth (Missy); great nieces, Jennifer Spencer (Micah), Quaye Milan (Terry), Darla Engelbrecht (Tom), and special caregiver Nan Shrader as well as a host of family and friends. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren of Frank Vaughn. Honorary Bearers are Brent Russell, LeRoy Taylor, Warren Reams, Clayton Pickard, Bobby Sager and Dean Peery.
