Tiny Frye, 93, and former long-time resident of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with his wife and family by his side. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the care of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Tiny Frye was born on February 17, 1925 in Devol, Oklahoma to Walter Lafayette Frye and Bertha Mae (Black) Frye. Tiny graduated from Devol High School. He joined the Merchant Marines, proudly served his country during World War II. In later years, Tiny met regularly with his fellow Marines at the Oklahoma City Chapter of the Merchant Marines. After finishing his military service commitment, he returned to Devol and married his high school sweetheart, Ann Lavender in 1946. They were later divorced in 1973. In 1948, he began working for the Sunray DX refinery south of Duncan in the administrative section. By the time he retired in 1983, he had risen to Assistant Refinery Manager. He and Ann, now deceased, were long time members of the First Presbyterian Church of Duncan with Tiny serving as Deacon, Elder, and Synod Representative. On May 22, 1977, in Texoma, Oklahoma, he married the love of his life Katherine Alberta Jack and was a member of the First Methodist Church where he was active in the church choir and served in several other capacities. He was also a long time member of the Duncan Kiwanis Club and held positions in all offices and for Lt. Governor. He would travel all over to visit other Kiwanis' organizations to promote Duncan and learn from theirs. He was instrumental in starting the Kiwanis Club in Stratford. Tiny headed up the Christmas tree sales for over twenty years. He was an avid golfer, was a proud member of the Barbershop Southwest Pride, and named Barbershopper of the Year several times. Tiny enjoyed traveling the world and especially taking cruises. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Katherine Alberta Frye of the home; his daughter, Terry Ann Wright and her husband Ron Wright of Yukon, Oklahoma; his son, Kenn Frye of Yukon; his brother, Rex Frye of Evergreen, Colorado; a daughter in law, Danielle Frye of Fort Worth Texas; his four grandchildren, Corey Wright, Ronnie Owens and her husband David, Tracy Langley and her husband Michael, Kristoffer Frye and his wife Jennifer; eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Tiny was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bertha Frye; his brothers, Walter L. “Dub” Frye, Jim Frye, Hugh Frye, Tom Frye; and his son, Russell Frye.
Honorary Bearers will be Kalan Langley his wife Blanca, Tyler Langley, Joshua Langley, Ethan Owens, Corey Wright, Kristoffer Frye, Courtney and her husband Logan Schulte, Gabriel Frye, Russell Frye and Jude Frye and special friend Patrick Young, Captain, U.S. Public Health Services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to Oklahoma League for the Blind, 501 N. Douglass Ave. Oklahoma City, OK 73106 or to Physicians Choice Hospice 14324 North Western Ave. Edmond, Oklahoma 73013.
The family would like to thank Physicians Choice Hospice, and Amanda Brown for their love and care and to special friend and caretaker, Linda Williams for her devoted and loving care of Tiny and Katherine.
