Elger D McElreath

Elger "Mack" Dow McElreath Jr. , 88 of Duncan, Oklahoma went to his heavenly home on Sunday April 5, 2020 at his lake house in Ardmore.
There will be limited viewing avaliable at Don Grantham Funeral Home from 10:00 am Tuesday April 7, 2020 till 12:00 pm on Wednesday April 8, 2020
Graveside services will be held Wednesday April 8, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery, with Pastor Mike McCord officiating. Services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Elger was born on September 18, 1931 in Durant, Oklahoma to Ruth (Gumm) and Elger McElreath.
He married the love of his life, Stevanna " Stevie" on August 4, 1951 and made a life together for 68 years until her passing on January 23, 2019. While serving our country in Fairbanks, Alaska at Ladd Airforce Base he had his first daughter, Linda. While in Fairbanks Mack and Stevie were charter members of the First United Methodist Church. Mack and family in tow, moved to Sheppard Airforce Base where they added the next member to their family, daughter, Leigh Anne. After completing his four years of service to his country Mack attended class at Southwestern State College and learned how to be a watch maker, this led to the opening of McElreath Jewelry and Gifts in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Mack and Stevie opened and ran a restaurant (El Palacio) in Duncan, Oklahoma together for 47 years selling it in June 2018. Mack was an avid outdoorsman, and relished any opportunity to enjoy nature, especially to fish for Largemouth bass. He was a driven man, and was often out in his shop working on various projects.Mack was a devoted member of the Ray of Hope Church for many years. The real love in his life was spending time with his wife and children going on several trips to the Bahamas, Alaska, Canada , Mexico and all over the United States. Mack, later in life, took every opportunity to watch his granddaughter, Megan and great grandchildren, Tucker, KK, and Lexi grow up and enjoyed their company.

Survivors include his devoted daughters, Linda Westfall of Ardmore, and Leigh Anne Burkhart and spouse John of Ardmore; one sister Lou Falkenstein of Bend, Oregon; one granddaughter Megan Leigh Melendez and spouse Saul of Ardmore; three great grandchildren: Tucker Leon Andrews, Kesleigh Maria Melendez and Lexi Kate Melendez; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents ; his beloved wife ; and son in law David Westfall.
