Dura Elaine Roberts, 91, of Duncan passed away Wednesday October 23, 2019 at the Ten Oaks Assisted Living in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Family will receive guests on Friday October 25 from 5-7PM at the Don Grantham funeral home.
Services will be 4:00pm Saturday October 26 at Seventh Day Adventist Church on Jones Street with Rev Paul Kirk and Rev. Allan Wax officiating. Interment will be 10:00AM Monday October 28 at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Don Grantham funeral home.
Dura was born August 17, 1928 to Earl and Euna Walter in Vinton, Louisiana. She had four brothers: Kenneth, Gerald, Timothy and Aubrey all of whom have passed except Aubrey who resides in Vinton, Louisiana. She also had two sisters: Emma and her twin Doris Eurlene who are both deceased. She graduated from Vinton High School. She married Jack Roberts on January 29, 1950 and they were together for 66 years until he passed away on March 24, 2018.
They had seven children: Brenda Louise who preceded her in death on July 29, 1990. Terry Alan Roberts from Chickasha, Oklahoma, Lydia Elaine Brewster and Husband Chris of Lawton, Oklahoma, Samuel Titus Roberts and wife Tamra of Homedale, Idaho, Phebe Ann Kirk and husband Paul of Alva, Oklahoma, Deborah Ruth Roberts of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Teresa Grace Roberts of Duncan, Oklahoma.
Jack and Dura lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana until June of 1968, when they moved to Duncan, Oklahoma.
Dura was a devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, sitting on the porch drinking coffee, reading, nature, her roses, bird watching and her daily 3 mile walk. She was an avid seamstress in her younger days and made clothes for her children.
She was a faithful and loyal member of the Bible Missionary Church for 60 years and supported her pastor. She loved the babies and volunteered in the nursery for many years as well.
She is now walking streets of gold with Jesus, her husband, daughter, her first grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
She leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
