Dorothy Marie Wilson

November 27, 1934 ~ August 31, 2018 (age 83)
Dorothy Marie Wilson, 83, of Duncan, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 31, 2018, at Elks Crossing with family by her side.
Services are at 2:00pm Friday, September 7 at the New Hope Baptist Church West with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will be at the Hope Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 6 from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born November 27, 1934 in Comanche, OK, the daughter of William Wesley “Hopper”
Wilson and Addie Lee (Thomas) Wilson.
She attended school at Parks, Deer Creek, Loco and Duncan. After high school, she began a long career at The Duncan Banner in advertising, initially in classifieds and later in display. She retired from the newspaper in the early ‘90s and later worked at the Meridian Nursing Home in Comanche, the Holiday Inn and Walmart in Duncan. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church West where she very much enjoyed the ministry and music. She loved spending time with family and was an avid sports fan. She had a soft spot in her heart for stray animals giving a home to many dogs and cats over the years. In her younger days, she enjoyed bowling and bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Leron Wilson, Louis Wilson, Ben Wilson, Rex Wilson, Earl Wilson and Johnny Wilson; one sister, Betty Jo Payne; three brothers-in-law, Charlie Allen, Kenneth McCalmant and Bill Payne; five sisters-in-law, Mary Wilson, Vina Wilson, Rita Wilson, Jeffie Wilson and Peggy Wilson.
She is survived by sisters, Helen Allen and Loretta McCalmant of Duncan; sister-in-law, Opal Wilson of Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ken Litchford, Daniel Litchford, Dustin McCalmant, Jerry Allen, Nick Wilson and Bobby Sager.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry McCalmant, Joe Groom, David Senger and Butch Allen.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christians Concerned, Samaritan’s Purse or the Salvation Army. Condolences may be left for the family online at
