Coy Berniece Pemberton
January 23, 1921 ~ June 7, 2019 (age 98)
Coy Berniece Pemberton, 98, of Duncan went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 7, 2019. Services will be at 1:30PM, Monday, June 10, 2019, at the Don Grantham Funeral Chapel with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Coy was born January 23, 1921, in Paradise, Texas to Pete and Gladys Erwin. She moved to the Duncan area as a child with her family. Coy married the love of her life, Kermit Pemberton, on August 27, 1938, in Wichita Falls, Texas. They honeymooned in Sulpher Park and setup home in the Duncan area. Coy was a cherished wife, homemaker, and mother. She and her husband joyfully raised two sons and two daughters and she enjoyed her family more than anything. Coy was well known for her tacos. Her friends and family couldn’t pass up a taco cookout at Coy’s. She loved to work in her yard and make it beautiful. She loved her church family, especially the lady’s group who always enjoyed her homemade cobblers. Coy loved to travel all of her life. Starting in the early years to Lake Texhoma when the kids were young to traveling all over the country and visiting all fifty states. Kermit and Coy celebrated their 50th anniversary in the 50th state,Hawaii, with their best friends of more than 40 years. One of Coy’s most beloved places was the beach. She and Kermit took their kids, then their grandkids, there as often as possible and stayed as long as five months on one trip. Coy made her home inviting to all which was evident by the many friends, family, and neighbors who would stop by at any time for a cup of coffee and a visit. She always had a house full at holidays and everyone felt comfortable staying to visit until late into the night. Coy’s legacy is that of cherished memories left behind in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her. Survivors include sons: Bill Pemberton and wife Marty of Half Moon Bay, Ca.; Pete Pemberton and wife Terri of Ardmore, Ok.; daughters: Kathy Bowles and husband Buddy, Patti Williams and husband David all Duncan; four grandsons: David Pemberton, Greg Pemberton, Mike Pemberton, and Darrell Bowles; 6 granddaughters: Susan Sparks, Donna Suson, Dayna Bowles, Ashley Speight, Kenzie Ricks; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings:Toot Hillyard, Dean Caraway, Sonny Erwin, two infant brothers, and beloved granddaughter Haley(Williams) Carson.
