Carolyn Kay Spradlin

September 8, 1941 ~ February 25, 2019 (age 77)
Carolyn Kay Spradlin passed away at the age of 77 in Duncan, Oklahoma Monday, February 25, 2019. Carolyn lived most of her adult life in Norman, Oklahoma. The family will hold a celebration of Carolyn’s life in the home of her son, Mark and Barb Spradlin with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved brother.
Carolyn was born September 8, 1941 in Wellington, Kansas to Clark and Bobbi Tripp. She married Don Spradlin in 1959 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma before moving to Norman as a young child. Carolyn enjoyed the lifelong role of being a wife and mother to their three children. She was an accomplished artist and seamstress and loved restoring antique furniture with her husband. Later in life, she looked forward to eating breakfast on Saturday mornings at Hassler’s in Norman with her older brother, Gene.
Carolyn was a long-time member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Norman, Oklahoma. She gave her life to the Lord as a young adult and later taught high school students in Sunday school. Other interests were playing the piano, playing church softball with her daughters, and studying and memorizing scripture.
Carolyn is survived by her son Mark and Barb Spradlin, Duncan, OK; Kelli and Louis Almaguer, Marshall, Texas; grandchildren Haley Spradlin, Oklahoma City; Jill and Luke Scott, Fort Worth, TX; Taylor and LuJack Whaley, Frisco, TX; Ben and Kaylynn Murdaugh, Moore, OK; Matt and Tiffany Murdaugh, Norman, OK; Mark and Brooklyn Murdaugh, London, England; and Chimene, Louis, Annalise, and Isabella Almaguer, Marshall, TX. Great-grandchildren Baylor Scott, Fort Worth, TX; and Brooks and October Murdaugh, London, England. Carolyn is also survived by her brother Gene, Tripp of Oklahoma, City, OK.
Carolyn is proceeded in death by her husband Don Spradlin, daughter Debi Nagy Murdaugh, grandson Sam Murdaugh, and siblings JoAnn Harrison, Rick Tripp and Glenn Tripp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, Duncan OK.
Carolyn’s family would like to thank Wilkins Health and Rehabilitation Center’s staff for loving and caring for Carolyn and making sure her last days were so enjoyable.
