Frances Annis Hart, 94, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, October 4, 2017 at Duncan Regional Hospital with her friends and family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 12th at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Joe and Jimmy Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at Hastings Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM Wednesday evening October 11th.
Frances Annis Hart was born on October 18, 1922 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Francis Marion Thomas and Annis Leah (Harris) Thomas. She attended Hastings public schools graduating from Hastings High School. She graduated from the Southeastern State Oklahoma College for Women in 1955 receiving her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. During that time Frances would go on to marry Lowell Leon Hart on August 8, 1940 in Velma, Oklahoma. Frances would move to Anadarko, Oklahoma beginning her teaching career in 1945 at Antondale District 49 teaching there for the next three years. Through 1955-1959 they lived in Corpus Christi, Texas where she taught 4th grade and enjoyed every day she taught there, in 1959 the family moved to Marlow, Oklahoma where Lowell opened and ran small grocery store and Frances taught 2nd grade in Duncan, Oklahoma. In 1961 they moved to Santa Clara, California where she would teach for Cupertino School district and Lowell worked for Lockheed Martin and Ford Aerospace before he retired in 1985 and Frances retiring from teaching in 1983.
Frances enjoyed traveling around the world after her retirement; she enjoyed oil painting, sewing, reading and most of all she enjoyed working in her garden. She enjoyed singing tenor with the Sweet Adelines being a member of the Lawton, Oklahoma branch; it was there in 1997 Frances met her special friend and partner, Geary Ruddock and the two would share the next 20 years enjoying each others company and having many good times together.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband; Lowell Leon Hart; her son, Phillip Maholn Hart; her brother, Billy Linden Thomas; her sisters, Joyce Combs, Mildred Simons; and her parents. She is survived by her sister, Wanda L. Willis of Chickasha, Oklahoma; her partner and his family, Geary Ruddock of the home, Lisa Ruddock, Brandon Ruddock, Chandra Landers, Damian Landers, Kipp Ruddock, April Ruddock, their children and numerous nieces, nephews and close family friends.
Pallbearers will be Kipp Ruddock, Brandon Ruddock, Damian Landers, Zachary Morales, Tory Morales, and Josh Cheek.
