Charles Ray Stephens, 79, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 10, at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Allen officiating. Funeral services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Sill National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Shepard Air Force Base Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Charles Ray Stephens was born in Springfield, Missouri to Archie and Nola Stephens. Charles was a graduate of Clinton High School. After his graduation Charles went on to service his country, joining the US Airforce in 1954; Charles went on to serve four tours in the Vietnam War and 24 years of service in the US Airforce before retiring honorably in 1978 at the rank of Technical Sergeant. During his service Charles met and married the love of his life Sue Bartlett on March 29, 1972 in Altus, Oklahoma. Charles was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He enjoyed fishing and loved being with his grandchildren and participating in their activities. Charles was a member of the open Range Cowboy Church.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Sue Stephens of the home; his daughters, Kathi Thomas and her husband Rodney of Marlow, OK, Yvonne Przytarski and her husband Rick of Minnesota; his sons Darryl Stephens and his wife Julie of South Dakota, Mike Stephens and his wife Brenda of South Carolina; his brother, Kenneth Stephens and his wife Neola of Clinton,OK; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Nola Stephens; brothers, Robert Stephens, Donald J Stephens, Archie Stephens Jr.; a daughter, Tonya Johnson and a granddaughter, Natasha Johnson.
